​Theses 9 and 10 is up and ready to listen to. So we are going to talk about "good" works or "dead" works as Luther would call them. In any event we are going to talk about anything that is not done in Faith in Christ is not considered a good thing by God the Father. Predestination Chapter 2: The Big Picture

​We are back and hitting the discussion of Predestination once again. Today we want to look at the big picture. So often in life the pendulum swings from one side to another and the same thing happens in the discussion of Predestination. There are those that look to the Sovereignty of the Lord saying that he chooses all things. The other side is freewill of man that takes from God his power to work faith. We will uplift the middle of the road, that God has justified the world through his Son Jesus Christ. That Justification comes to you through the work of the Holy Spirit through the Means of Grace (Word and Sacrament).

​In Theses 7 and 8 Luther really hits the point home about how even as Christians we are still sinners so easily led away from the Cross of Christ. Why is it that pride always seems to be lurking behind every door from the Christian and so powerful a motivator for the unbeliever? In every age there is the motto to take pride in yourself, in your work, in your community. I have lost count the many times I have heard people take credit and joy in doing their own thing and being their own person. Maybe that is why the Cross of Christ makes even less sense today than it has ever made in history past. Well, let's talk about it.

We are starting a new Bible Study on Predestination. We are following a Book of the same name printed by Northwestern Publishing House written by John Moldstad. We would love for you to join us in this discussion of Predestination. It is truly a wonderful topic for our attention as we remember the joy we have in Christ who has done all things for our eternal salvation. This is not a study for those looking for something light. There is some real heavy lifting and thought that will be involved. Also, there may be some really hard and yet very important questions that will come up. Enjoy as you listen.

​We are back in the new year and we get 2019 rolling with the next set of theses from the Heidelberg Disputations. Now, I know that looking at historical documents can be tiresome, but when such documents carry such wonderful encouragement it is hard not to share. Today get his with reality and see that we are not really as "good" as we think we are or want to be. So no story of great power and great responsibility for us. No, it seems we are the villains in our own story. Good thing Jesus came to save the villains too.
